Green by Ted Dekker [Book Review]
Book: Green
Author: Ted Dekker
Rating:
We discover that time actually began in the future rather than the past. The Books of History have mystical powers. With only four of the books one can bridge space and time – for good or evil. The end of everything is at hand. Thomas Hunter’s son is struggling with his faith in their God, Elyon. Thomas must make a series of desperate choices, but will it be enough?
When I read the introduction I was instantly hooked. The story is filled with suspense. The characters don’t develop much but it’s possible that that took place in the previous three installments. The book is rich in symbolism, which I liked, but the reader would be better served if Mr. Dekker allowed us to connect the dots on our own. I rate the plot an A+ but feel that the execution fell flat. There are many grotesque and horrid portions in this book that are too cultist for my tastes. Obviously, in a novel regarding the battle between good and evil it makes sense for evil to behave badly, but I felt that the line of good taste was crossed several times. If you are the least bit uncomfortable with the occult you should probably pass on this book.
