Veterans Day
I am so blessed (preparing for our theme next week!) to have a veteran for a father. My dad served in the Army in the Vietnam War. He was a part of the draft system. He didn’t dodge it, but fulfilled his responsibility and served his country. Because of this, he has instilled in me an intense respect for our veterans. They gave up part of their lives to defend our country and most of them asked for nothing in return.

My dad never has asked for a pat on the back or any sort of praise. So many of our soldiers are like this. They went, did a job and came home. We have so much to thank them for. I am glad veterans day falls in November, it fits right in with Thanksgiving.
So, today, I’m gonna hug a veteran, maybe you don’t have that same privilege, but next time you see a veteran or someone who is currently serving, (it doesn’t just have to be today) thank them. I’m sure they’d appreciate the gratitude.
Those in military service risk their lives everyday so that we don’t have to. No matter what your opinions are on the War in Iraq or political view of our current government, I hope you take the time to thank our American soldiers and the selflessness that they carry on in their duty.
Do you have a veteran or soldier that you want to give a “shout out” to? Tell us about your veteran!
I just want to say "thank you" to your father for his service. I hope you pass that along to him!
i wanna give a shout out to her dad too.
Also a shout out to our very own Dave Borders!!! Thanks Dave
Sometimes our conversation gets split on Facebook and here, so I thought I'd share some of the shout outs from Facebook here:
@Jessica – "My Grandfather was a purple heart recipient for his service in the Korean war. He passed away this week, but he knows how much he is loved and appreciated and will be waiting for his family in Heaven."
@Josh – "I would like to give a shout out for LCPL Isaiah Barry (USMC), coming back from a float out to everywhere from Spain to Egypt to Jordan to Kuait to almost Afghanistan, and he'll be back in the beginning of December."
We are so thankful for all our men and women in uniform. Thanks for sharing!
