MMH5 – Five Ugly Christmas Decorations

The Monday Morning High Five

Continuing our list of all things 5 to hopefully bring a smile to your Monday.

There is so much beauty that surrounds Christmas: the glistening snow, the dancing fire in the fireplace, the lights on the tree and houses, and a smile on the child’s face. Along with the beauty of Christmas, there is the ugliness of Christmas. Some of it is found in greed and commercialism; but some of it is in the manufactured items that somehow make it onto shelves, and (even more surprising) off of the shelves and into people’s homes.

Here are five ugly Christmas decorations for your Monday and Christmas enjoyment!

1. The Ugly Christmas Lights – It’s night, but the light that surrounds this house suggests that it’s mid-afternoon. There’s typically at least four inflatable snow globes along with multiple Santas and Frostys. However, this house adds some creative flare to have what normally isn’t attributed to Christmas; like helicopters and a sea monster with a Santa cap. (photo via WoofBC)

2. The Ugly Christmas Sweater - They are so epic that they have entire parties devoted to them. It’s like a Dr. Huxtable convention minus the ad-lib interpretive dance contest. This was the ugliest Christmas sweater that I could find, and the best thing is that it can be yours for only $25 if you go HERE.

3. The Ugly Christmas Ornament – The kicker for this fish lady ornament might be the real earing in the fin (finring?), but what really takes the cake is the real eyelashes. Creepy. (photo via blue i)

4. The Ugly Christmas Tree – This pink eyesore is a bit personal because it’s in my office. It’s not mine, but it’s right next to my desk, and the comments have been brutal. I’m hoping that this doesn’t become a new office tradition.

5. The Ugly Christmas Toilet – This was donated to the church, and my Father (the Pastor) thought it would be fun to give it to my wife and I as a Christmas present. As a joke, when my wife and I were decorating the house, I put it all together (I must get my humor from my Dad).  He sure is a happy snowman despite his unfortunate location.

What about you? Do you have any ugly Christmas decorations that you’d like to share?

You have to keep number 5, that is awesome.
And I must say, I own a couple womens christmas sweaters, they are the best.

The ugly Christmas toilet makes so little sense that it actually comes back full circle to being completely awesome.

To be honest, finding an ugly Christmas ornament was hard because so many were so ridiculous, I ended up only wishing they were on my tree. haha

Hey now – don't be dissing my sweater. :>)

No, I really liked the ugly Christmas ornament. The only thing worse is getting it in the church gift exchange.

I enjoyed this, but wait till you see the decoration your dad put on our tree this year. It is one lonely baby crock shoe. He found it in Hawaii, & thought it would make our random Christmas tree complete.

haha! Only dad. Was he cleaning out drains when he found the baby crock shoe? :)

I'm with you about ugly gifts gotten at church gift exchanges!!:) And I truly hate the inflatable snow globes….some people and their taste.:)

finally got a chance to read this on a REAL computer (the photos wouldnt load on my blackberry – TOO big – and honestly I am getting a new bb soon!)

ahh yes, i see you found the website that my mom buys her sweaters from! lol – im not a christmas paraphinalia wearer. You can be festive without wearing the tree :)

I think the best Church exchange present I ever got was the hideous 'christmas' scented candle with the faded nativity scene printed on it –and can anyone tell me what it was supposed to smell like? cinnamon? apple? fireplace? maybe THATs what chestnuts roasting on an open fire smell like? lol
ahh yes tacky Christmas present exchanges keep the holidays fun.
