Finding Forgiveness, Love, and Hope in Loss

Sam Thomas, a teacher from my high school, and his family became a DWI victim in March 2006 after his 5 year old daughter, Megan, was killed in car accident. Megan’s grandmother was driving her to a youth program at her grandfather’s church in New Milford Township, PA, when a drunk driver hit their vehicle. Before the New Year, Sam was on the local news station from back home with the idea of bringing DWI awareness to people in the area before the holiday. But to me, Sam brought more than that. He brought a message of forgiveness, hope, love, and the message of Christ. The following videos are about 10 minutes long, but if you set aside the time to watch them, I promise you will be glad you did. Sam has taken this horrible incident and turned it into a positive ministry.

There is definitely an opportunity in every tragedy. It may not be easy, but something beautiful and powerful can emerge. Thanks for sharing this story.
