Just Call Me Cupid’s Helper [Life]

Since the beginning of time, well technically since 496 AD, every female secretly hopes that her sweetie pie did not forget to buy her roses, chocolates, or a card for Valentine’s Day.

But these gifts are seriously overdone! This year try spicing up the average Valentine’s Day gift with something a little more creative. I’m here to help.

Five ways to impress your sugar muffin:

Instead of breakfast in bed, try breakfast in the bathtub. Relaxation is the key for this morning treat. You might need to invest in a bath caddy to make sure that your darling’s plate of French toast and scrambled eggs stay dry.

Extra points: Light candles for the number of years you’ve shared Valentine’s Days. This will be sure to impress her on your romanticism. Don’t forget to have Michael Bublé serenading her in the background.

Instead of that overpriced Hallmark card, try hiding love notes around the house for your honey bear to find. Seriously, do you want to give any more money to the card industry? The US Greeting Card Association states that approximately 1 billion cards are sent each year worldwide for V Day.

Extra points: Correlate the hiding spot to the notes message. For example, when hiding a note on the toilet seat, write “I ‘go’ all out for you. Ha-Pee Valentine’s day.” Note for the remote control: “You can turn me on anytime.” Note for their car’s steering wheel: “You drive me wild.”

Instead of buying that box of Whitmans’ chocolates, try taking your cupcake to the chocolate factory. Yes, it’s a little out there, but it would be a date to remember.

Extra points: Let your pumpkin eat as many chocolate samples as she deems necessary.

Instead of saying “I love you,” try writing your buttercup a love note with as many conversation hearts as you can. Big hit when I did this years back.:)

Extra points: If you use the entire pack of hearts in your letter.

Instead of buying a dozen red roses, try buying a rose bush to plant instead. It will be the gift that keeps on giving.

Extra points: Remove all 439 thorns before wrapping. And plant it for her.

So you get the point. Spice it up this year. And remember these tips don’t have to be specifically aimed for your significant other. Alter the ideas for your parents, sisters, friends, neighbors, or even that strange man across the street. (Might want to nix that bathtub idea though! :) ) Spread the love this Valentine’s Day. Extra points are awarded for telling your sweetheart, boss, or best friend about the greatest gift of love ever demonstrated….God’s sacrifice for us on the cross.

Now it’s your turn. Tell me what creative things you have done or received on Valentine’s Day.

Nothing close to what he deserves.:) I just bought a box of kid's valentine cards, wrote little messages on all 32 of them, and hid them all over the house. I also had to buy him a heart ice cream cake from DQ with I Love you, Brian written in icing.:) He loves DQ cakes.:)
