Discussion Guidelines
We don’t want to do all the talking. We want to hear your thoughts, ideas, reactions as well! We encourage you to submit your thoughts about GS posts in the comment section.
We do, however, have a few commenting guidelines. What sort of comments are we looking for? In our view, a good comment has the following qualities:
- On topic: specifically relevant to the issues or questions raised by the original post
- Sensibly short and concise
- Friendly and polite in tone and language (even if you’re commenting on something with which you strongly disagree)
- Contributes something useful and helpful to the topic
On the flip side, there are some things you’ll definitely want to avoid in your comments:
- Off-topic
- Overly long or otherwise difficult to read (if your comment is longer than the original post, consider shortening it for readability)
- Arguing with other commenters (debates or lengthy discussions with other commenters are best taken to another forum or a personal blog)
- Argumentative or angry tone of language
- Contribute nothing useful or positive to the discussion
For a helpful rule of thumb when commenting, take a look at the guidelines at GoodComment.com.
We appreciate alternate viewpoints; you’re just as welcome to submit comments that politely disagree with us as agree with us.
We hold ourselves to these same standards when posting comments of our own. It all comes down to being polite, courteous, and Christ-like in the way we communicate. If you have particular questions about the comment or moderation policy, don’t hesitate to contact us.
