The Monday Morning High Five

Continuing our list of all things 5 to hopefully bring a smile to your Monday.

Even though the Monday Morning High 5 is only five months old, I thought it would be nice to take a look back at some of your favorites. I hope this will be either a nice trip down memory lane or a new look at something you may have missed.

So here it is, the countdown to the top five MMH5 of 2009:

#5 - MMH5 – Football Biblical edition

A satirical look at which NFL teams these Biblical characters would play for and their careers if they played today.

(explanations in full post)

  1. Goliath – New York Giants – Linebacker
  2. Jonah – Miami Dolphins – Running Back
  3. Elijah – Baltimore Ravens – Wide Receiver
  4. Daniel – Detroit Lions – Quarterback
  5. Paul – New Orleans Saints – Head Coach

#4MMH5 – Top Five Christian Costumes

With Halloween coming up, it got me thinking of all the different costumes that are out there. This also got me thinking of all the different disguises Christians hide behind. I have five in particular that I defer to in different situations. Some of them are hypocritical, and others are a flat out expression of inner selfishness.  I also think that other Christians may share some of the same “costume” ideas, but hey, I can only speak for myself.

So, without further ado, here’s my tongue-in-cheek explanation of the top five “costumes” that Christians wear, but probably shouldn’t. (At least the top five I use)

#3MMH5 – If Bible Characters Were Superheroes

When I was young, I would hear the stories of Bible characters and the amazing feats they did. From David defeating a giant with only a small stone, to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego surviving the fiery furnace, there are many stories of regular people who are found in extraordinary situations. I know that behind all these great feats was the power of God. However, there was a small portion of me that felt that they were like superheroes, given special abilities in order to do good (or evil). Often times I related these Bible characters to ones that I knew. So for some Monday morning fun, I thought I’d pose a hypothetical reality of who some Bible characters may be if they were replaced by comic book superheroes.

(Explanations in full post)

  1. Jesus as Superman
  2. Esther as Rogue
  3. Satan as Lex Luthor
  4. Job as The Punisher
  5. Solomon as Spiderman

#2What Kind of Thanksgiving Eater Are You?

Bonnie Gray over at the always encouraging blog, Faith Barista, wrote a great post entitled, What Kind of Bible Coffee Drinker Are You? From that article, I ripped off was inspired to write a very similar Monday Morning High Five, but asking the question, What kind of Christian Thanksgiving eater are you?

(Explanations in full post)

  1. Turkey
  2. Stuffing
  3. Can of Cranberry Sauce
  4. Heart & Gizzard
  5. Pie

#1MMH5 – Five Arguments I Continue To Have With God

I don’t know about you, but I catch myself sounding like a broken record with God. I keep going back to the same arguments, the same questions, that I keep asking and discussing with God. Not because I haven’t received an answer, but more like I haven’t received the answer I wanted. I have a feeling that I’m not the only one who thinks like this, so I thought I’d discuss them. Also, I wanted to share the answers that I continue to find that God has for me.

Do you have a favorite MMH5? What do you think should be made into a list of 5 for Monday morning? Let me know in the comments or email!

I don't think I have been following the blog long enough to choose a favorite, though I've certainly enjoyed a number of them. This a great recap, though, for us new-comers to catch up on some of the older archives. Thanks for posting. I usually enjoy these "best of" lists because they help me get a feel for what's been going on and what's happened in the past.
