Continuing our list of all things 5 to hopefully bring a smile to your Monday.

Earlier this week, Bonnie Gray over at the always encouraging blog, Faith Barista, wrote a great post entitled, What Kind of Bible Coffee Drinker Are You? From that article, I ripped off was inspired to write a very similar Monday Morning High Five, but asking the question, What kind of Christian Thanksgiving eater are you? Bonnie was gracious enough to let me borrow her original idea, and allowed me to put my own personal, holiday spin on it. I encourage you to check out her very fun and encouraging blog; (especially if you’re a coffee freak like me) where Bonnie serves up “shots of Faith for everyday life“, as well as follow her on Twitter @TheBonnieGray.

So here’s my question for this Monday morning: “What kind of Christian Thanksgiving eater are you?

Note: You can be more than one of these, but I’m curious if your favorite part(s) of the Thanksgiving meal matches the way you walk and live your Christian faith. I also just wanted to point out that while each one of these dishes is very different from the other, they are all important; and when they are combined together, they make a great and complete meal.

1 – Turkey – Not even fatigue can keep you away from digging into the deep and heavy meat of the Word of God. Paul the Apostle is your Tom Brady, and discussing and debating things like the Trinity and meat offered to idols is better than any fantasy football league. The Bible is your study tool, and Greek and Hebrew will cause you to almost squeal in excitement. Bible concordances and more blank notebooks to fill are at the top of your Christmas list this year.

2 – Stuffing – You love devotions and Bible studies. You get the most out of the Bible when you’re reading and discussing it with other people. You learn best when its with others, and you try to surround yourself with godly men and women of strong faith. You love to encourage others and will be the shoulder ready to cry on. You don’t have to be the leader of the group, but you are a great side-kick for whoever is in charge.

3 – Can of Cranberry Sauce – You like structure, but you’re also up for a little fun. Chances are, you work with the youth in your church through either the youth group or AWANAs. One of your favorite things when working with the youth is that you get to use the crayons and join in a rousing game of volleyball. You’re a kid at heart, and people (including the children) love you for it.

4 – Heart & Gizzard – You boo Jacob and cheer Esau. You are the rough and ready. You are the first to sign up and volunteer for any of the hard work that needs to be done in the church. You don’t mind rolling up your sleeves and getting the dirty jobs done. Telling people about Christ is second nature, and you are rarely intimidated by what others think.

5 – Pie – You are polite, sweet, and kind, and it’s hard for anyone not to like you. You may be a greeter, or you specifically seek out visitors in the church. You work at making the church presentable and welcoming. Your favorite thing to do is serve, and can often be found on the spoon side of the pot luck buffet. You have no problem turning the other cheek, and you always put others before yourself.

I hope you let me know in the comments what kind of Christian Thanksgiving eater you are.

ps. I’m probably a Turkey and Cranberry Sauce guy myself (despite me not really liking cranberry sauce). Oh and there’s a special, bonus Monday Morning High Five over at ThoughtsAboutNothing*com where Kyle Reed (@KylelReed) is allowing me to take over his blog for the day. You might want to check that out! :)

If by "creative" you mean stealing other people's ideas and rewriting them as a generic version of the original, than yes. I am very creative. lol :) Hope the MMH5's continue to bring a smile to your Mondays.

I wish I was a little more of all of these- my plate tends to be heavy with stuffing and
pie! What about the Mashed Potatoes? Loves working with the kids in the nursery and sunday school, where they may not be ready for the meat of the Word, but they can handle the potatoes! You supply the essetials to their growing minds in an easy to understand way. I’m so thankful for great Sunday School teachers who have helped give kids a love for God (and train them to pay attention in Big Church!)

Happy Thanksgiving, Brett! I go straight for the Turkey and the Stuffing!!

On the Thanksgiving plate, however, I make sure I get Turkey, mash potatoes and cranberry sauce – they are the sacred three. (You'll love cranberry sauce if you ever get a smidgen of mine.. ) ;) LOL.

    Great post!
