I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “Opinions are like noses, everyone has one”, and the Internet has allowed everyone to show off just how good their’s smells. I didn’t want to discuss whether this was right or wrong (which would possibly make this one of the most ironic posts ever), but just wanted to ask what you did.
I recently started visiting nursing homes, as my grandparents now live in them. (I also, work occasionally at a Memory Center for those with dementia) The residents are elderly and weaken by age. They know their lives are near the end, this is the last stop for them. Even, though these statements are true, there is hope.
Online vs Desktop – Why Your Ministry Should Use Microsoft Office 2010 over Google Apps
Online vs Desktop: Series 1|Part 2
Last week we talked about online apps vs desktop software, office solutions, and why your ministry should use Google Apps over Microsoft Office. In the online vs desktop debate, there are two sides of each argument. Today, we’ll discuss why your church should use Microsoft Office over Google Apps. Since Microsoft Office is about to launch their newest edition of Office, aptly titled, “Office 2010″. (No specifics from Redmond as to launch date. Microsoft says Office 2010 will be released to manufacturers in the first half of this year. Which means it could also start shipping in that time frame as well.)
I learned a lot more about my grandma from her passing. Kind of sad that we sometimes learn more after our loved ones are gone. But her funeral wasn’t all sad, it was a joyful celebration of her life. She wasn’t the President, or a Supreme Court judge, not anyone the world would give great honor to. Who was my grandma? She was a determined and strong woman, going to college at age 46!
Continuing our list of all things 5 to hopefully bring a smile to your Monday.
I’m not one for car decorations. Not that I haven’t succumbed to the inspirations of the Fast and the Furious in the past and added some sweet Cleveland Browns static clings or stuck glow in the dark stickers on the ceiling of my car. However, now, outside the Tiki guy air freshner that hangs from my rear-view mirror, my car rides pretty plain.
That doesn’t mean though that I’m against “Christianizing” your vehicle, except some don’t know how to properly do it. Plus, there’s no point system to judge each other’s cars to determine who has the more Christian car. So today, that’s going to get fixed.
Get ready to bust out the calculators, because we’re going to have a little contest of our own. After you read this, total up your points, send in a pic of your vehicle to verify, and we’ll announce a winner.
The Sunday Afternoon App
Usually, I try to bring to light some great productivity apps for your computer for the Sunday Afternoon App. Today, however, I’m doing the opposite by showing you a web game based on the claymation shorts of Shaun the Sheep (From the creators of Wallace & Gromit). I was introduced to Shaun the Sheep this Christmas season by my 5 year old nephew. If you haven’t seen Shaun the Sheep and like children’s movies like Wall-e or Up, I recommend you add this to you Netflix queue.
This object lesson is geared toward jr. high or teens. Use it to talk about outward appearance vs the inner man; being a reflection of Christ, judging others, and/or being a witness.
Objects Needed:
- Bible
- Construction Paper/Grocery Paper bags
- Markers
- Tape
These have been floating around the Internets for awhile, but I still find them incredible, beautiful and worth a second look. Here are five of my favorite, most unique looking church buildings from all over the world. Make sure to check out the link at the end for five more incredible church buildings.
Harajuku: Japanese Futuristic Church
“This futuristic, Protestant church is located in Tokyo and it was first unveiled by the design firm of Ciel Rouge Creation in 2005. The ceiling is specially made to reverberate natural sound for 2 seconds to provide a unique listening experience for worshipers and tourists.”
