The Modern Day Virtuous Woman

She searches for clearance and sale racks when she shops. She works hard in her garden but still keeps the kitchen clean and the dog groomed. Prov 31:13
She uses coupons at the discount grocery store a few miles away from their home rather than wasting money at the high-priced convenience store nearby. Prov 31:14
She sets her alarm for 5:00am every morning so that she can awaken her family with the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls. She makes sure she has enough leftovers to share with the mailman, garbage man, and both neighbors. Prov 31:15
She scrutinizes which fruit and vegetable seeds to buy from the market. She works feverishly to plant and maintain a luscious garden. Prov 31:16
She runs on the treadmill for twenty minutes and yet still has the strength to do fifty push-ups and sit-ups before her busy day of errands and housework. Prov 31:17
She understands that her homemade jams are quite delicious so she works until midnight to finish jarring them. Prov 31:18
She can be found many times bent over her sewing machine, mending her husband’s jeans and stitching new hems into her children’s hand-me-downs. Prov 31:19
She makes her weekly visits to the soup kitchen where her beaming smiles and willing hands bring joy to every hungry soul. Prov 31:20
She makes sure her children and husband always have proper warm clothing, hats, boots, scarves, and gloves to wear during the winter season. Prov 31:21
She purchases material at Jo-Ann Fabrics so that she can sew her own clothing. Yet, she looks well-put together for any occasion. Prov 31:22
Her husband is a city official, offering wise advice to all those who seek it. Prov 31:23
To make some extra money in her spare time, she designs and creates elegant gowns to sell on eBay. She also makes slips and bustiers to sell at wedding shops. Prov 31:24
She is known in her city to be strong and honorable. The people can trust her with their problems and secrets. She enjoys being an encouragement to everyone. Prov 31:25
She offers parenting advice to her weary friends. Her kind words bless all who come along her path–from the grocery store clerk to the bank teller. Prov 31:26
She ensures that her house is cleaned, laundry folded, clothes mended, her family well-fed, and all is in order before she lays her head on her pillow. Prov 31:27
Her children decorate construction paper cards to let her know that they love her. Her children share with their friends how truly wonderful she is. Her husband praises her name to every one of his forty-three coworkers. All will soon know of her virtue. Prov 31:28

Excellent job here. I like this because it takes what we already know and makes it more real, more tangible. That's what encouragement is all about. It's about making certain what we already know so we have the courage to follow through with it.

My recent post How do I connect in a small group, Bible study?
Thanks, Marshall! Practical and applicable messages/sermons have always meant the most to me…..it's nice when you can actually understand and see how passages apply to our everyday lives.
